And we begin our tour with

Zion National Park

"There is an eloquence to their forms which stirs the imagination with a singular power and kindles in the mind....Nothing can exceed the wondrous beauty of Zion". is what geologist, Clarence E. Dutton wrote when he came to Zion in 1880.

The Court of the Patriarchs, named so by the Mormon settlers of Utah.

Zion Canyon can be seen along Scenic Drive.  Here we admire rock climbers (who look like dots) tackle this colorful, sheer rock face.

The drive through Zion on Zion-Mt. Carmel highway takes you by towering canyons, through long man made tunnels which go through the large rocky canyons (one of which is 1.1. miles long) and into slickrock country.

This is slickrock country with rocks colored in oranges, reds and pastels and etched with cracks and natural lines.  Some call the colorful etchings the "Indian's Paintbrush".

The drive through Utah from Zion to Moab was nothing short of amazing for as far as the human eye could see.  It just went on and on.  We never grew tired of the scenery.  We drove through colorful mountains such as this, and then along  snow capped mountains and snowy forests.

The sun sets in a Utah valley.
