2 Go Alpine Hiking
Up

While we went skiing one day, most of our days included a hike in the beautiful mountains above Zermatt.  We were blessed by lovely weather while we were there, and really enjoyed taking in the mountains, forests, and glacier scenery.

One day we embarked on a very rewarding, yet tiring, 7.5 hour hike from Zermatt, at roughly 5,000 feet, to Gornergrat, at over 10,000 feet.  Our reward was a glorious view of the surrounding mountains and glaicers--well worth the effort, and much better than taking the train up.

The forest scenery was dramatic, making the walk--both up and down--pleasant and interesting.

We had a wonderful time in Switzerland.  We are so grateful to Bill and Poppy for encouraging us to visit them in Zermatt and also for showing us such warm hospitality.  As we said earlier, they will definitely be life-long friends....whether they like it or not.
